How to Make DIY Magnets with Stickers and Photos
Making your own magnets with stickers and photos is a fun and easy way to add a personal touch to your travel souvenirs. It’s also a fun project to do with kids old enough to use scissors, as well as on your own.
The photo cards used in this video were from moo.com. You can print several business card-size images from their website. Every card can be a different image, so they work great as unique business cards (not being paid to say it). They also make a great set of photo magnets from a vacation trip.
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Magnets (either old magnets or an adhesive magnetic sheet from the craft store)
- Stickers/photos
- Scissors
- Craft knife (optional)
- Clear-drying craft glue (optional)
Instructions:
- Select a magnet the size of your sticker/photo
- Magnetic sheets can be purchased from a craft store, if you don’t have old magnets to use. Using old magnets has the plus of making this a reuse/recycle project.
- Remove the backing from the sticker.
- Apply the sticker to the magnetic sheet OR glue the card to the magnet
- Use scissors to trim the excess magnetic sheet around the edges of the sticker.
- If you want to make your magnets extra-durable, you can apply a clear-drying craft glue over the sticker. (The video skips this step.)
Once you’ve made your magnets, you can use them to decorate your fridge, locker, or any other metal surface. They’re also a great thing to give as gifts to friends and family.
Here are a few tips for making your magnets:
- Use a variety of sticker colors to create a unique look on your fridge.
- If you have any leftover magnetic sheet, you can use it to make magnets for other purposes, such as bookmarks or place cards.
